The LG SONIC XL was the first of the long range ultrasonic output devices developed by LG SOUND and will handle

The key to effectiveness of this device, as well as all of the LG SONIC line of algae control products, is the transducer or
the underwater ultrasound emitter.
The transducer was designed and created for LG SOUND for the express purpose of creating a resonating sound wave
at the optimum frequency to break down the fragile algae vacuole cell wall, thus causing the algae to die. LG SOUND has
the exclusive rights for this type of transducer, so it will not be found on any other device of this type.
The specially designed waterproof transducer acts like an underwater speaker, generating sound frequencies that are
fatal for various kinds of algae, but are harmless to humans, animals, fish and aquatic plants. It kills the algae because of
its unique internal vacuole cell wall that is susceptible to break similar to a crystal glass breaking from a high pitched
sound.
