Pilot Plant Testing
Spartan recommends that pilot scale testing be done prior to design of a
full size commercial system. The pilot plant is based on a two cell system
(ETC-2) which is 1/24th scale of a full sized system (ETC-48). Each pilot
electrolyzer contains a full sized anode and two full sized cathodes that
make up two cells. The anode is exposed to the same current and flow as
an anode in a full sized electrolyzer. This allows scale-up problems to be
minimized.
Results from the pilot plant can be applied to the full scale systems.

Copper Cyanide Destruction
A client needed to treat a copper cyanide waste stream capturing the
copper and destroying the cyanide. Photos of the system and the
electrodes used in that system are displayed on this page. The system
was demonstrated at the pilot plant facilities of ELTECH Systems
Corporation and then transported to the client where the results were
repeated. The tests showed that the systems could remove both copper
and cyanide from the waste stream effectively as shown below.
