To integrate ozone generators into
water treatment systems requires
additional equipment beyond the
generators themselves. This includes:
- Equipment to mix ozone with
the water to be treated
- Equipment to destroy excess
ozone before it leaves the
water treatment system
- Instruments to measure
ozone in the gas and water
phase

Mixing Equipment
Equipment is needed to bring ozone together with the water to be treated in an efficient
manner. Ozono Elettronica Internazionale (OEI) supplies several options:
Porous Diffusers
The diffusers are devices anchored to the bottom of the ozone contact chamber and
made from an ozone resistant porous materials. As ozone flows through the diffuser many
very fine gas bubbles are formed.
Ejectors
Ejector or venturi systems can allow ozone to be introduced into liquid media with a higher
pressure than that available in the ozone generator. It produces a flow containing many
fine bubbles depending on the operating pressure and liquid/gas ratio.
Special Pressurized Contactors
Special reactors are designed to bring ozone into contact with organic substrates or water
that must be oxidized with the aid of physical and chemical additives, for example when
ozone and hydrogen peroxide are used together as peroxone.
In-Line Mixers
When the liquid media has a lower pressure than that inside the ozone generator, ozone
can be combined with static mixers designed to mingle ozone in fine bubbles with the liquid.
Ozone Destroyers
The gas leaving the ozone contact system will have traces of ozone that need to be
removed in the ozone destruction plant. The destruction of ozone is based upon the
principle of thermal decomposition. As the decomposition reaction proceeds optimally
only above a minimum temperature, the gas must be heated (Model DOT). Energy can be
saved using a heat recovery system (Model DTR) or a catalyst based system can be used
that decreases the required temperature (Model DOCAT).
Measurement Instruments
OEI offers a complete line of analyzers for gas and liquid phase measurement of ozone.
